Here at Puerto Natales, you’re in the company of like-minded individuals rearing to explore Torres del Paine National Park. Even with its many restaurants, cosy accommodations, and relaxed, glacial atmosphere, the main thing to do is get out there and explore nature. As you head out, you might catch sight of a condor hailing from Dorotea Hill. About forty kilometers out is Milodon Cave. Remains of extinct animals were discovered there, including a milodon, which resembles something between a 12-foot bear and a sloth. Don’t be alarmed by the life-size replica upon entrance. Bernardo O’Higgins National Park is a lesser visited landscape, but it has its own wonders to offer. And beyond is the famed, mind-blowingly beautiful Torres del Paine National Park.
