DAY 1: WELCOME TO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!
A Volant representative will pick you up from the airport and transfer you to the hotel. Admire the pristine views of the Wasatch and Uintah mountains surrounding the city. Spend the afternoon strolling through the streets of downtown or through the City Creek center.
DAY 2: SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, USA
After a traditional American breakfast we will drive up Little Cottonwood Canyon to Silver Lake in the Wasatch Mountains. After a simple hike around the lake we will take the short drive through Guardsman Pass to the Homestead Thermal Crater. The Homestead Crater is a 10,000 year old natural hot spring surrounded by a rock dome. In the evening we will take a walking tour of Temple Square in downtown Salt Lake City.
DAY 3: SLC – JACKSON HOLE, WYOMING, USA – GRAND TETON NATIONAL PARK, USA
Today will be dedicated to the transfer and exploration of both Jackson Hole and Teton Village, Wyoming. In the afternoon we will climb aboard an aerial tram to summit Rendezvous Mountain for spectacular views of the sunset as well as the almighty Teton Mountain Range.
DAY 4: GRAND TETON NATIONAL PARK, USA – YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, USA
The first half of the day will be spent among the majestic Teton Mountains within the National Park. After a few short hikes along the shorelines of Jenny, Strong and Leigh Lakes we will head north to the world’s first national park, Yellowstone. We will make sure to see Old Faithful, the most famous geyser in America, as well as the Grand Prismatic Thermal Spring, located in the Midway Geyser Basin. Keep your eyes peeled for bison and bighorn sheep as Yellowstone is home to the highest density of mammals in the contiguous USA.
DAY 5: YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, USA
Today will be dedicated to exploring more beautiful and iconic sites in Yellowstone National Park. Uncle Tom’s Cabin is a must-hike that will allow us to get up close and personal with the thunderous Lower Falls of the Yellowstone River. As we continue our driving tour of the park we will be sure to enjoy a self guiding boardwalk that winds its way through the mysterious, multilayered Mammoth Hot Springs. The incalculable viewpoints and spectacular landscapes in this region will be sure to take your breath away.
DAY 6: YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, USA – GLACIER NATIONAL PARK, USA
Driving north through western Montana will land us Glacier National Park. Throughout the day the landscape will dramatically change from Big Sky Country to dense forests like Flathead National Forest. The Rocky Mountain landscapes within the park are home to over 100 glaciers and 700 lakes. Given enough time we will tour the Apgar Visitor Center and walk along Lake McDonald for a sneak peak of what this National Park has to offer.
DAY 7: GLACIER NATIONAL PARK, USA
Today will be dedicated to exploring Glacier National Park. As we wind along the ‘Going-to-the-Sun’ Road through the continental divide we will witness remarkable views of mighty glaciers, turquoise lakes and grand vistas. This scenic byway has unlocked much of the park’s wonders including St. Mary Lake and Logan Pass. In the evening we will cross the international border into Canada.
DAY 8: WATERTON LAKES NATIONAL PARK, ALBERTA, CANADA
The first half of our day will be spent exploring beautiful mountain-lake country within Waterton Lakes National Park. There will be many grand vistas overlooking the crystal clear lakes, rainbow colored streams and thundering waterfalls. After lunch we drive north through the luscious green prairies of Alberta to the city of Banff. If time allows we may choose to explore Bow Falls, a major waterfall on the Bow River. In the evening we will take a walking tour of Banff. The main road through town, Banff Avenue, is home to a number of boutiques, restaurants and chateau style hotels.
DAY 9: BANFF NATIONAL PARK – BANFF, ALBERTA, CANADA
Nestled in the heart of the mighty Canadian Rockies, Banff National Park is Canada’s first national park. Among many must see sites the Cave and Basin National Historic Site is considered to be the birthplace of this National Park. Just south of there the Banff Gondola provides a remarkable scenic ride to the summit of Sulphur Mountain.
DAY 10: BANFF NATIONAL PARK – BANFF, ALBERTA, CANADA
Today we will continue exploring the untamed wilderness within the park. Marvel at the emerald waters of Lake Louise, walk through fields of flowers at Sunshine Meadows or drive under the giant peaks of the scenic Icefields Parkway. As the world’s third oldest national park, Banff will continue to shock you with its landscapes, flora and fauna.
DAY 11: JASPER NATIONAL PARK, ALBERTA, CANADA
Sister park to Banff N.P., Jasper N.P. is the largest national park in the Canadian Rockies. Sights such as Maligne Canyon and the powerful Athabasca Falls should not be missed. In the evening we will rest among the majestic, snow-capped giants.
DAY 12: KAMLOOPS, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA
In the morning we will drive north to the highest point in the Canadian Rockies; Mount Robson. While at Whistler’s Mountain we will have the opportunity to reach its summit via gondola. After a short mountain hike we take a scenic drive down through British Columbia to the town of Kamloops where we will relax for the evening.
DAY 13: VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA
Getting an early start to our day we will drive south through beautiful British Columbia country. Located at the convergence of the Coquihalla and Fraser Rivers, the city of Hope is an important landmark in the history of the First Nations as well as a good place to stretch. Continuing west towards BC’s bustling seaport we have the opportunity to explore Stanley Park and as well as the famous Capilano Suspension Bridge. In the evening we will have the pleasure of exploring downtown downtown Vancouver, one of Canada’s most densely populated and diverse cities.
DAY 14: VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA
Today we will take a day trip to the whimsical town of Whistler. If the scenic drive north of Vancouver doesn’t leave you breathless nothing will. Along the way we will be sure to stop by Shannon Falls Provincial Park for an up close look of this stunning waterfall. As the road winds deeper and deeper inland we will arrive at Whistler. As one of the largest ski resorts in North America and venue for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, the city of Whistler is located at the base of the Whistler and Blackcomb mountains. Be sure to check out the Peak 2 Peak Gondola as it holds two world records; the highest cable car above ground, and the longest unsupported span between two cable car towers.
DAY 15: ANACORTES, WASHINGTON, USA
Today we will cross the international border into Washington State, USA and travel south to Anacortes. During our last full day of adventure we will explore the San Juan Islands and watch the sunset over the shimmering waters of Puget Sound.
DAY 16: TOUR ENDS: SEATTLE, WASHINGTON, USA
Although no group activities are planned for today we will be driving down to Sea-tac where our time together will come to an end. Your Volant guide will transfer you to the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and send you on your way. Thank you for choosing Volant and safe travels home!
