DAY 1: CANCUN, MÉXICO

Hola. Welcome to México!

This evening you'll meet your Yucatán tour group at your hotel for a brief orientation meeting and a warm meet-and-greet. Tonight we dine as a group at a local restaurant for a warm welcome dinner.

DAY 2: CHICHÉN ITZÁ | MÉRIDA, MÉXICO

An early start to the day gets you on the road for a two hour transfer through the Yucatán Peninsula's flatland (2h). Head towards the famous limestone sinkholes known as cenotes. Filled with calm, aqua blue water, these fascinating geological features invite you to take a dip in their sacred waters.

After a leisure lunch on your own, you'll head to the iconic Maya temple site: El Castillo, also known as, Chichén Itza (1h). Tour this UNESCO World Heritage Site, the sacred Maya temple complex at your leisure. Be sure to take note of the massive stone snake as it descends along the temple steps, perfectly aligning itself with astrological events.

Transfer to Mérida for dinner and a warm Mexican evening (1h 45m)

DAY 3: UXMAL | CAMPECHE, MÉXICO

Today's activities on the Yucatán Peninsula include two UNESCO World Heritage Sites: The Pre-Spanish, ancient Maya site at Uxmal; and, the 16th century, colonial Spanish town at Campeche. 

This morning you'll transfer to Uxmal, a large Maya town with many civic buildings and even a fortress-like Maya temple site (1h 30m). Founded c. A.D. 700, 800 years before the Spanish arrived, this complex had some 25,000 inhabitants. Many structures are decorated with a profusion of symbolic motifs and intricate sculptures. Enjoy this intriguing archeological site at your leisure. 

After lunch you'll be transferred to the Colonial Spanish town, Campeche (2h 15m). 

At Campeche you'll have the chance to see how a 16th century Spanish town was fortified, designed to protect the small port from Caribbean attacks. Walk the streets at your leisure, taking in the fortified walled, cobbled streets, intricate churches and cathedrals, and breathing the fresh air coming from the Gulf of México. 

This evening's dinner is up to you. Enjoy wandering the quaint streets to find a local eatery or a modern restaurant. The choice is yours.

DAY 4: CAMPECHE | PALENQUE NATIONAL PARK, MÉXICO

After breakfast you'll take the day to travel down the west coast of the Yucatán Peninsula (5h 30m). You'll be transferred through lush greenery and quaint Mexican towns. 

 After your day's journey, you'll arrive at one of the finest and most interesting Maya sites on the whole Mexican peninsula: Palenque National Park and archeological site. 

You'll eat dinner at a local restaurant as a group, giving you a chance to discuss the immensity of Mayan accomplishments.

DAY 5: PALENQUE NATIONAL PARK, MÉXICO

Palenque National Park and archeological site will consume today's attention.

As you approach the series of ancient Maya buildings at Palenque, it quickly becomes apparent as to why it was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987. The craftsmanship of the buildings and the sculpted reliefs depicting their mythological beliefs clearly show the ingenuity and advancement of their culture.

You are free to roam the complex at your leisure. Take your time and enjoy it. Today is fully dedicated to taking in the wonders of the Maya world.

Dinner will be served at a local restaurant after your visit to  Palenque.

DAY 6: TIKAL, GUATEMALA

Today's program includes a full-day journey through the Mexican-Guatemalan highlands (8h). You'll be transferred to the stunning Temple complex at Tikal.

On your way to Tikal you'll have a chance to view stunning scenery and vast landscapes. Mountains, trees, and streams abound in this wild and lush region of Central America. 

Dinner will be served when you arrive at Tikal.

DAY 7: TIKAL, GUATEMALA

The imposing and giant temple at Tikal dominates the lush forest below it's roof. Used as a lookout and a source of visionary experiences, the Tikal temple towers high into the Guatemalan skies. 

Enjoy a leisurely stroll through the ancient Tikal archeological site. Take in the lush forest that surrounds the precisely cut stones, stones that were specifically designed to reach the divine, reaching upwards through the thick, green canopy. 

Enjoy a Guatemalan dinner after you return from your visit to Tikal.

DAY 8: SAN IGNACIO | BELIZE CITY, BELIZE

After breakfast, you'll be transferred across the international border to San Ignacio, Belize (2h 30m). Take a stroll through the local market, one of the best in the region.

Seek out your own lunch among the locals of San Ignacio, Belize.

After lunch you'll be transferred to your hotel in Belize's capital, Belize City (2h). If you so wish, feel free to take a walk near the hotel to take in the city's local highlights.

You'll have the chance to seek out your own dinner options among the many fine restaurants near your hotel. The choice is yours.

DAY 9: TULUM, MÉXICO

Today's journey takes you north, back across the Mexican border, close to your tour's starting point (5h 30m). 

Your destination for the afternoon and evening is Tulum, the ancient Maya site and natural wonder found on the east side of the Yucatán Peninsula, along the Caribbean Sea. Apart from the impressive Maya ruins, you can talk a walk along Tulum's stunning, white sand beach; or take a swim in Tulum's azure waters. The natural coastline is worth taking in. Enjoy it. 

Tonight's dinner is your farewell dinner, a celebration of what you've experienced, both culturally and naturally. Thanks for sharing this experience and for choosing Volant!

DAY 10: TULUM, MÉXICO | DEPART

Sadly, your Latin American tour of the Yucatán Peninsula ends this morning. You'll be transferred to Cancun's International Airport after breakfast (1h 45m).

Depending on your flight schedule, you can spend time on the famous Playa del Carmen, one of Mexico's iconic seaside destinations (50m from Tulum).
