Guided Trek to Annapurna Base Camp

12 Days

Annapurna Sanctuary Trek

The trek to Annapurna base camp is often referred to as the Annapurna sanctuary trek because of the remote, secluded, and surrounded nature of base camp itself. It sits high in the Himalayas, surrounded by massive peaks. There is no outlet from the valley except one, which is down river. Every other direction from base camp leads to massive mountain faces.

Another reason base camp is often called a sanctuary is because it’s at the heart of the Annapurna Conservation Area. This protected land is free from future housing development, roads of any kind, hunting of any kind, and is policed by a special tourist police sanctioned by the Nepali government. You can truly return to nature in this magnificent, mountainous land.

There are several trails that lead to the base of Annapurna 1. Volant has chosen the most picturesque, a trail that leads you through a vast rhododendron forest, one of the largest in the world. If you time it just right, you can experience the breathtaking beauty of a fully blossomed forest of red and pink flowers.

Because there are so many trials throughout the Annapurna region, it is recommended that you speak with us in order that we may cater your needs to a well designed, personalized itinerary. Or, you can choose to join one of our public tours. Either way, you can’t go wrong by trekking through this Himalayan playground.
