Excursions: New Zealand, 2020

We are organizing an opportunity to kayak in Okarito Bay on the West Coast of the island. The lagoon is surrounded by the beautiful rimu and kahikatea rain forest with views of the Southern Alps in the distance. It is home to over 76 bird species including an endangered population of the Okarito Brown Kiwi (or Rowi). We are planning to secure a guide for 2-3 hours of kayaking. Please indicate whether you are planning to join on us on this adventure. The alternative to kayaking is the Okarito Trig Walk, a wonderful 4.2 km walk the winds its way to a viewpoint with outstanding views of the Southern Alps peaks, lush dense forest, the Okarito lagoon, and the wild beaches of the coast.  Should I reserve a kayak for you?

We are planning a chance to ride on the famous Alps 2 Ocean Cycle Trail. This bike path begins at Mt Cooke at over 3700 meters and descends over 1000 meters across 300 km to the ocean in Oamaru. Those biking the entire routes can easily take 1-2 weeks. We are planning to bike a 2-3 hour section, to give us a taste of the route. It is off-road, but we are assured that it is a “nice” trail perfect for those with moderate biking skills. Should I reserve a bike for you?
